We can now officially announce the details of Benton Homestead‘s first appearance on Japan’s national television!
We’re so happy that Evan answered the phone one evening, only to find it was a surprise call from a friendly television producer. She asked to schedule an online video interview with us and some of her team. After the interview, the filming was quickly scheduled during Golden Week! We welcomed a team of 12 crew members (or was it 14?) plus the host and star of the show, to our little neighborhood on Ōmishima island and the Shimanami Kaido.

‘サンド&キスマイの気になるマン’ Sandwichman & Kisumae’s Interesting Man (Kininaruman)
This show airs nationally throughout Japan on theTV-Asahi channel. From their website: “The members of Kis-My-Ft2 go on a field trip to investigate interesting things all over Japan! In the studio, Sandwichman and special guests take on quiz challenges! This program solves intriguing questions about the world while rediscovering the hidden charms of Japan!”
Sandwichman (サンドウィッチマン) is a Japanese comedy-duo consisting of Mikio Date and Takeshi Tomizawa. They are very popular among the public in Japan not only because of their manzai and comedy, but also because of their good friendship and their generosity.
Kis-My-Ft2 is a six-member Japanese male idol group formed in 2005, noted in Japanese media for incorporating roller-skating into their stage performances. Commonly referred to as “Kisumae“. Currently, the band members are also involved in a wide variety of entertainment, including music, television, stage performance, voice acting, and more.

These are a few screenshots from the brief teaser trailer released on the 10manen_dekirukana social media page:

Thank you to the TV-Asahi film crew, the talent, and to our Ōmishima neighbors! Especially Tamayo-san, Rumi-san, and Matchan, who all chose to spend their own time to be a part of the production.
We look forward to more opportunities in the future, not only to share our own business, but also to help share more of Ōmishima and Shimanami Kaido businesses, friends, and neighbors. Our small island economy is very much tourism-based, so the more visitors to the islands, the more we can all continue to cooperatively grow and succeed together, on this little island paradise in the Seto Sea.
Thanks for reading,
Dani & Evan Benton
