Akiya Renovation: Almost Ready!

Hello, friends! It’s been a little while since we shared a full photo blog, or YouTube video for that matter, so we’re overdue for an update. If you follow our daily “stories”, then you know we’ve literally been working ’round the clock on guesthouse renovations. Our goal has been to prepare for a November 1 opening, and, despite a potential hiccup with the fire alarm certification for the minpaku license, we’re still hoping to meet our projected deadline. Of course, we’ll let y’all know as soon as our AirBnB listing goes live.

「頑張って」と願って下さい!

We’ve been working every single day, so from our perspective, the transformation has been gradual. But now, when I take a moment to look back at our “before” photos, it’s actually a shock to see how much has changed in a few short months! I can’t wait until we’re totally done, and I can take “after” photos to line up with each “before” photo. It’ll be like seeing in real life the potential that we saw, with hearts in our eyes.

Tomorrow is our second of three meetings with Imabari City, to report our Startup Visa progress. I took the time to document where we are in the progress, to capture this moment in time. Some rooms are *so close* to being complete. We just finished the kitchen cupboards today! Only the bathroom and laundry room still need a lot of work, along with a few fusuma screens, and lots of little odds and ends. Let’s take a look.
